Finally managed to visit the Sagrada! Glad to be back!
Last year we were passing through Barcelona. Although quite in a rush, we were admiring the views of Barcelona when we saw the Sagrada Família. Ever since that moment, we have wanted to come back and explore it fully. After witnessing it from up close and from the inside, the pictures do not do it justice. Our guide was amazing. He answered all of our questions and even altered the original route because we wanted to see the sculptures outside earlier. I have never seen such a building before or since, it has a very unique presence.
First time in Spain, what a start!
An amazing sight to visit on our first full day in Spain. We arrived in Barcelona the night before, so our first activity was superb! Naturally, after a bit of a longer night out the night before, the fact that we could skip the line was a very welcome addition at that moment. Our guide, Marcus, was the best, though! He answered all of our questions with enthusiasm and in great detail. Very happy to have ended up with him.

SEE THE NATIVITY FACADE
Before you enter la Sagrada Família itself, you will see the outside facades. The most famous is the east-facing one, with the most architectural influence of Antonio Gaudí, named the Nativity Facade. The Nativity Facade is one of the parts of Sagrada Família, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This facade depicts the birth of Jesus Christ and boasts the most detail out of the three existing facades. Its construction started while Antonio Gaudí was still alive but was not fully completed during his life. Make sure to take in the views from the outside, which even the mastermind of the basilica could not see in his lifetime. The other facades present on the Sagrada Família are the Passion Facade, depicting Jesus’ passion and death, and the Glory Facade, which is not yet completed fully. Your private guide will explain their meaning in more detail, and of course, do not hesitate to ask your guide additional questions at any point!
A TRULY UNIQUE ARCHITECTURE
After you enter the Sagrada Família Main Nave, you will be greeted by the very high and detailed inner architecture. Large Arboriform Columns rising high resemble huge tree trunks that branch out at the top. The detail, size, and number of the columns make it seem like one is entering a concrete forest with a strong spiritual atmosphere. The atmosphere is aided by the light coming in through stained glass windows, providing a unique blend of color and detail not seen elsewhere. If certain aspects of the tour interest you more, make sure to let your guide know! You will be able to change the itinerary of the tour to match your preferences.
GAUDÍ'S FINAL RESTING PLACE
In the Crypt of the Sagrada Família, lays the final resting place of the architect Antoni Gaudí. The Crypt is the other part of Sagrada Família which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was the first part of Sagrada Família to be opened to the public and since its opening, mass is held there every Sunday.

The long construction of La Sagrada Família
La Sagrada Família has been in construction since 1882 and is still not fully complete today. The main reason why it is taking this long to complete it is mainly due to fact it is being self-financed, or more precisely, financed by donations and visits. Sagrada Família should finally be fully completed by 2026, over 140 years after construction started!
